SS UNITED States Sinking

SS United States Historic Sinking Cruise

Thursday, November 12, 2026 | 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM (Estimated)

Be part of history with Sea Blaster Destin!

Join us for a once in a lifetime opportunity as we head offshore to witness a historic moment for the Emerald Coast! The legendary SS United States is scheduled to be intentionally sunk off the coast of Destin-Fort Walton Beach, where she’ll begin a new chapter as the world’s largest artificial reef!

A Little History

First launched in 1952, the SS United States is a 990-foot ocean liner that broke the transatlantic speed record on her maiden voyage, earning her the title of the fastest ocean liner in history, a record she still holds today!

After decades out of service, this iconic piece of American maritime history is getting a second life beneath the Gulf’s waters. Once deployed, she’ll provide a new habitat for marine life, create exciting opportunities for divers, and become a one of a kind attraction right here on the Emerald Coast!

What to Expect

We’ll depart from HarborWalk Village in Destin and head offshore toward the designated viewing area for the historic sinking. Guests will have the opportunity to witness this incredible event from the water while remaining outside the required safety perimeter.

But the fun doesn’t stop there!

On our way back to Destin, we’ll turn the trip into a classic Sea Blaster dolphin cruise! We’ll be on the lookout for our favorite locals as we make our way back through the beautiful waters of the Emerald Coast.
